Abu Dhabi, 14 October 2026. Azmatullah Omarzai, the first player United Tigers picked at the Abu Dhabi T10 Player Draft, is now the No. 1 all-rounder in the ICC ODI rankings.
He wasn’t world No. 1 when we called his name on draft night. We picked him first because of what we saw in him: big hitting with the bat, reliable medium-fast bowling, and the kind of all-round game that fits any situation. Watching him climb to the top of the rankings tells us we read him right.
Why he matters in T10
There’s no time to settle in over ten overs. Omarzai can change a game with the bat in a handful of balls and then come back and bowl the hard overs, which gives the side two ways to win a match. Players who can do both are hard to find.
What it means for the club
This is Azmat’s achievement first and foremost. For a new franchise, though, it also says something about how we want to build: spot players on the way up, back our judgement, and put together a squad that can compete with anyone.
With the Abu Dhabi T10 League getting closer, the whole squad can’t wait to see him in purple and gold.
Congratulations, Azmat, from everyone at United Tigers.
First pick. World No. 1. Our very own Tiger.
